Manuscript Assessment
Maybe you’re not ready to take the plunge and work with an editor in full yet—or maybe you’re not sure what kind of edit you need or how much work you need to do. Either way, you’re going to want an expert eye on your manuscript so you can figure out your next step on this journey to publishing your book. That’s why we offer an initial diagnostic assessment based on a partial manuscript to give you a sense of what your next steps should be.
Developmental Edit
You’ve finished your manuscript—congratulations! That means you’re ready for a developmental edit. A developmental edit is like an x-ray for your book: We’ll take a look at the bones and show you where there’s still work to be done. From character development, to pacing, to fine-tuning your ending, we’ll work with you to get all the necessary elements (typically four-five major themes) into alignment.
This package includes one round of edits and a phone call. If you are seeking multiple rounds of edits, please ask about our Full Moon Package.
Lunar Line Edit
If a developmental edit deals with the bones of your book, the line edit deals with the fascia, that crucial connective tissue that holds every bone, tissue, and muscle in place. Line by line, we’ll polish your work so that your prose flows and your dialogue sings.
The Half Moon
The Half Moon includes a developmental edit, one phone call to discuss, and a line edit. It’s an editorial shortstack that can be combined with additional services as required.
The Full Moon
Sometimes you need more than one round of edits—and a white glove touch. You want the full editorial experience with a seasoned editor: multiple rounds of edits and follow up calls to check your work on those edits. With the Full Moon, we’ll do a deep dive into your manuscript and go two rounds with you over the course of several months, just like at Random House. When you are ready for your line edit (included), we will prioritize your manuscript and jump you ahead of the line.
This is our most popular package and space is limited - please reserve at least two months in advance.
Dark Moon Sessions
The Dark Moon Session is our newest offering. If you know you were born to write an incredible story but have had trouble getting it down on paper, this offering is for you. If you’re stalled on the tracks and can't get going again, this offering is for you. If you’ve been working on your manuscript for ages but can’t seem to finish or admit that you’ve finished, this offering is for you.
If you always have a couple projects you toggle between and never fully commit to or suffer from imposter syndrome, or frequent writer’s block, you’re not alone. For many creative person, underlying issues can manifest as blocked creativity and avoidant creative behavior. In these sessions we’ll dive deep to discover your creative flow, to help you prioritize your writing, and uncover the issues that are keeping you from tapping into your vision and sharing it with the world. Query Sample Package
You’ve completed your manuscript and you wouldn’t change a thing. We love to hear that. The next step toward becoming a published author is getting an agent to sign you as a client. The best way to do that? Get your agent query sample and letter in dynamite condition. You only get one chance to make a first impression—and we’ll work with you to hit all the right notes.
Publishing Consult
By now, you’re probably starting to feel like there are a lot of steps to getting your book published! You’re not wrong. Publishing houses are institutions built on decades and decades of systemic bias and they thrive on inaccessibility. As an insider, we’ll pull back the curtain on the process and show you how to get your foot in the door, providing guidance on pitching your manuscript to agents, navigating the editorial submission process, and even deciding whether to go the self-publishing route.
The Lean Luna
The Lean Luna is our newest package! It includes a hybrid assessment/line edit and an agent query consultation. We’ll do a line edit and then bring all of our publishing experience advising you on positioning your work for querying. We’ll discuss the query letter, comps, approaching agents, and pitching your work.
